Welcome, Star Tribune Readers!

posted in Fat and Famous, General, Humor |

Randy Salas of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune wrote an article in Wednesday’s issue about people who are documenting their weight loss online, and he included me in the article. You can read it here. He wrote some really nice things about me. Thanks for the kind words, Randy!

Minnesota-the home of America’s finest humorist, Garrison Keillor. I’ve always loved his radio program. In fact, I’m thinking of one day starting a national chain of upscale toupee stores, and I’ve narrowed down the names I might choose to Follicle Barn, Just For Scalps, and A Prairie Dome Companion. (Garrison, if you’re reading this, contact me to discuss a possible endorsement deal!)

Anyway, I’m glad you’re all here. I once spent a month in Rochester, Minnesota, and I thought it was a lovely town. I’ve never been to the Twin Cities, but I grew up with a huge crush on Mary Richards.

And a few years ago I rented the movie Fargo, which was set in Minnesota. Frankly, I didn’t like the movie all that much. But Fargo kind of reminds me of Faygo, which I love, especially their famous Red Pop.

So a big welcome to all the folks from the land of Lake Wobegon from me here at Lake Bellybegone! And if you want to keep up with my progress, be sure and join my email list on the left.

Hey, I saw your website in the Star Trbune. Good luck to you on your journey. I’ll be
interested in hearing if you feel much better initially just from eliminating siginificant
amounts of sugar and fat from your diet. I get an immediate energy boost when I start to cut
down on those two items. I’ve got a book recommendation for you: The Fat of the Land by Michael
Fumento, an easy, entertaining, and humourous read about the culture of eating and fat in
America and the author dispels the many myths that enable people to think that it’s normal to be
overweight. The book is very cheap used at Amazon. It’s not “normal” , but we need to change our mentality and habits. For me the
biggest challenge is the constant exposure to food EVERYWHERE! People would not expect an
alcoholic to frequent bars, but I am expected to go to restaurants and parties and “exercise
restraint”? This Christmas we recevied a box of chocolate from my husband’s relative and he
did not eat one chocolate, but I knew where that box was at all times! Guess who at the whole
box? So, what was the point of keeping it because I felt guilty that it was a gift? I told
my husband that next year I’m just going to give away the chocolate. Anyway, good luck to you.

Thanks, and I’ll see if I can find a cheap copy of Fumento’s book. Sounds right up my alley.

And after two days of no pop, and one w/o sugar and meat, I do believe I feel better. I’m certainly burping less, which was a real problem.

But I’m waiting for the caffeine withdrawal headeaches. Should be hitting soon.

You have more guts than I do.

I still have trouble seeing pictures of myself.

It will pay off as you get further along into the year. You will get a charge of looking at before and after photos.
