Eat To Live
That’s the name of a book I’m reading by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. He says almost all cancers and heart problems could be eliminated by cutting out animal products from our diets. He also recognizes that most people aren’t going to become vegetarians, so he stresses that that we should do what we can to move toward the ideal. I have a long way to go, and I’m sure most of you do, too. Dr. Fuhrman also says that no more than 10% of our food should be cooked, with the other 90% being raw fruits and vegetables, juices, and nuts. That’s another goal I’m unlikely to ever attain, but I certainly understand what he’s saying. And he’s not some crank-Joel Fuhrman is an MD with a thriving practice in New York City. He’s also a former Olympic speed skater, and he says he followed these principles even when he trained and competed.
