Livin’ La Vida Low CarbBy Greg Todd
Here’s the story of a guy who lost 180 pounds in a year on the Atkins diet, and a few years later he hasn’t put any of it back on. Jimmy Moore even wrote a book about going from “flabby fat to sensationally skinny in one year.” He’s also got a blog, and a regular podcast about the low carb lifestyle. I’m not endorsing the Atkins plan, but just sharing his story to show that massive weight loss without bariatric surgery is achievable.

I, too, lost 70 lbs on the atkins diet in 2002. I was one of his biggest supporters- because just about every day people would ask me how I am losing weight and when I told them- they would look at me and frown, or say that I am going to have a heart attack, or something rude like that. After nine months, I caved. Listened to the news stories, the warnings and switched to Weight Watchers to lose the remaining thiry pounds that I needed to lose. Well…it didn’t work- I gained all that I had lost back within a year. I have since changed my eating habits for the better- last August I gave up soft drinks (I was drinking diet) and also all artifical sweetner. I am eating fruits and vegetables and chicken and brown rice and staying away from processed foods. I have lost 30 lbs since then-it’s been slow- but I feel so much better. Thanks for the article though- reminded me of another alternative. Atkins done right does include plenty of vegetables and lean protein.

Atkins didn’t work for me, but my hubby likes it. My philosophy is what every works for you stick with it and weight loss is possible.
