Obesity epidemic linked to debit & credit cards?By Greg Todd
Here’s an interesting article. It seems people are more likely to eat at fast food places that take plastic, which is pretty obvious, since these days many people don’t have much cash on their person. But it also claims that the average credit card/debit card order at fast food joints is 30% larger than the average cash order.

That makes sense. It feels like you are spending money( a hard earned limited resource ) when you don’t see it.
My spending on crap went up during college when I got an ATM card.

I’ve used my debit card at Subway or some of the other places when caught without cash, but it’s never made me buy more food.
Maybe it’s something along the lines of someone choosing to pay for a bigger order that they were going to get anyway (buying dinner for the family) with the card rather than paying for a smaller order with cash (lunch for just one person)?
